Daniel Kirincic, a sophomore and cross-country runner at Evergreen Park Community High School, had wanted a cockatiel for years. On his 15th birthday, August 20, he was heading to practice when a bright yellow bird was sitting on the Mustang bleachers by the track, Patch reported. It was calm around people and looked a lot like a bird he had painted as a freshman.
In Libby McArthur's art class he had made the same subject in three styles, including a cockatiel with light gray spots. His mother brought a net, they got the bird home, and she found the owner on Facebook. The owner said he could keep it. The bird's name is Tico.
