A Phoenix man called police after a caller posing as DoorDash told him his account was shut off and walked him into entering a code at a kiosk, AZFamily reported. His last paycheck was gone. He had just paid rent and a car payment, and his daughter's second birthday was the next day.
Officers Alessandro Figuccio and Tanner Schnieder, partners at the Cactus Park Precinct, left and filled a cart with clothes and toys. They added a small pink bicycle with tassels. They paid for it themselves and carried it back to the house. Schnieder said the father cried when he saw the bike. The gifts did not replace the stolen paycheck. They did put a birthday back on the calendar.
