High school seniors Garrett Christie and Cade Lewis were driving to Sonic with their girlfriends when they came over a hill and saw a crash, WAFF 48 reported on October 5, 2026. Christie pulled into a nearby lot, and Lewis was out of the car almost before it stopped.
One of the girlfriends called 911. The two boys checked on one driver, who seemed okay, then found a teenage girl trapped in the other car. Her door was damaged and would not open, so they pulled it apart enough to reach her. She said her leg was hurt, and because the car was smoking badly, they helped her walk away from it, set her down at a safe distance, and went back for her belongings.
The four never made it to dinner. "It's just my morals, like how I've been raised," Christie said. "If you're in that situation, you'd obviously want people to be there for you."
