Wyatt Anderson, a senior at St. Xavier in Louisville, crossed the finish line of the Chicago Marathon on Sunday in 3:56:28, running beside his brother. WLKY reported that last November he fractured his spine in a fall while playing basketball, had surgery to fuse it, and regained movement over weeks of physical therapy. He had already finished the Kentucky Derby Festival miniMarathon in April. Chicago was the longer goal.

The brothers also raised more than $22,000 for the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation, which funds spinal-cord research and care. Anderson was one finisher in a field of about 55,000. The clock time is a personal finish, not a placing in the race.
