Jerami Segura and April Comeaux were found alive on a platform in Lake Sand. WBRZ reported on October 6, 2026, that the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office said the pair were last seen on October 1, and that a vehicle was found at the Cabot Boat Ramp. Investigators believed their shrimp boat had broken down somewhere and that they had taken a dark jet ski out to try to tow it. The sheriff's marine patrol, the U.S. Coast Guard, and the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries started a search on Saturday.

On Monday morning a fisherman saw them on the platform and radioed the Coast Guard. Deputies who were already searching heard that traffic and went to the spot. The station reported that they were found. It did not describe their medical condition beyond that.
